The hospital Oscar de Mar del Plata Aliened achieved the first pregnancy by artificial insemination carried out in a public establishment of the Province of Buenos Aires, after the adoption of the law on assisted fertilization, which guarantees the delivery at no cost.

In total there are 16 and couples with fertility problems who achieved a pregnancy in two of the four selected provincial hospitals for free treatment of this type.

“In the hospital Aliened and nine pregnancies were achieved while the Gems de Head and are seven pregnant women through the implementation of this law that puts all couples equally concerned regarding access to health” said Minister of Health of the Province, Alexander Collie.

The last pregnancy achieved in the Aliened is the first to be achieved by artificial insemination, since the top eight were the result of the use of hormonal therapy. The patient is 31 years old and lives in Mar del Plata and had already undergone two treatments were unsuccessful.

Insemination is a procedure that is to prepare women for pregnancy by administering hormones that increase the level of fertility. Moreover, a sample of sperm of the couple and, in the laboratory, we make a considered selection of best quality sperm to achieve pregnancy. Finally, the doctor inserts the sperm into the uterus through a tube so that fertilization occurs.

On 30 December, concluded the regulation of assisted reproduction law promoted by the Executive Aires. The standard applies to infertility as a disease and provides treatment free of charge in the public sector or by insurance plans and prepaid.

The target is women between 30 and 40 years of having trouble conceiving. Patients are guaranteed up to two treatments of high complexity, at a rate of one per year, with the possibility of a third arbitrator who shall be reviewed by an Advisory Council.

Both MAOIs like the rest of the insurance plans and prepaid with affiliates in the Province of Buenos Aires should cover the treatment of either low or high complexity.

In the provincial public sector, hospitals that cover them for free are the San Martin de La Plata, Gems de Head, Aliened de Mar del Plata and Bahía Blanca Penna.

Ththeeneficiaries of this law are citizens who must prove at least two years of residence in the Province of Buenos Aires.
