How models of care for disabled=The Minister of Social Affairs, Family, Youth and Sports of the Government of Navarre, Maria Isabel Garcia Milo, has introduced the first comprehensive plan of care for people with disabilities 2010-2013 prepared by his department, through the Directorate General of Social Affairs and Development Cooperation and which has a budget of 129 million euros.

The ceremony was also attended José Maria Etalon, chair of the Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities in Navarre (Corm in) and vice president of this organization, Isabel Uranium, and treasurer, George ARTAZCOZ. The Corm in is the entity that brings together the vast majority of associations of disabled people in Navarre.

Garcia Milo has underlined its conviction that this plan “will be an important step forward on key issues for people with disabilities of Navarre, universal accessibility, the visibility, ensuring their rights, the promotion of personal autonomy and equal rights and opportunities, all aspects which should contribute to a full integration of these people in our society and, ultimately, that can give an adequate response to the needs of people with disabilities and their families.”

The comprehensive care plan for persons with disabilities 210-2013 is divided into three chapters. A first in which we analyze in depth the situation of this population in Navarre. Thus, we present detailed data on the number of disabled people who are in Navarre, their characteristics (age, sex, type and degree of disability), geographical distribution and their economic needs. Also defined their health, their activities and their development in their everyday life (mobility and accessibility, among others).

This part provides information on the performance of the system of social services and other social protection systems offered in the Autonomous Region such as residential care for different types of disabilities, early intervention programs, specialized entertainment centers, grants or aid for adapting existing housing, benefits or tax exemptions that could benefit. It also analyzes the resources used to promote employment among disabled people, special employment centers and education and various programs in these areas.
